Immortals of Aveum

Ascendant Studios and Electronic Arts have debuted some extensive gameplay for Immortals of Aveum, the upcoming magic-based first-person shooter. It sees protagonist Jak dropping in with his squad for an intense battle. Check it out below.

Jak has access to three schools of Magic – Red, Blue and Green. As seen in the footage, Green Magic unleashes quick bursts that can home in on enemies, while Red Magic deals more damage but at a slower rate. Blue Magic allows for long-range shots but is also used to grapple to high ground. So you can grapple up, hover in the air and fire at enemies below.

There are also some puzzle rooms, with Jak having to align structures and energize them with lasers to proceed. Of course, this also activates a giant golem with a damaging laser. Along with attacking, you can also dodge and activate a shield (which breaks after taking too much damage). The equipment screen is also briefly showcased.

Immortals of Aveum releases on July 20th for Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC. It retails for $70 and should provide over 20-25 hours of playtime if you focus on the story.
