Lost Planet 3: New Footage Reveals Rigs

And drilling!

Lost Planet 3 is near release – which is kind of odd, given that it’s the sequel to the one of Capcom’s bigger franchise and there hasn’t been that much hype. Nonetheless, it’d be interesting to see what the game does differently – like the rigs, of which new footage has been revealed from the recent Capcom Japan presentation.

Unlike the mechs of the latter games, the rigs are much older and used more for exploring and harvesting resources. They’re also less robust, so you’ll need to defend the rig from enemies while it’s busy drilling, as our protagonist does in the above footage.

As a prequel, Lost Planet 3 will see a return to the wintry environments of the first game, although there will be less emphasis on combat this time around. The game will also explore the origins of E.D.N. in question. It releases PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in North America on August 27th and in Europe on August 29th.
