Compelling narratives and effective storytelling have always been the Mafia series’ biggest strengths, and that’s apparently very much going to be the case with the upcoming Mafia: Definitive Edition as well. Hangar 13’s ground-up remake of the first game releases less than a month from now, and ahead of its launch, publishers 2K Games released a new narrative trailer for the game at Gamescom Opening Night Live.

Focusing on Tommy’s induction into the Salieri Crime Family and what that entails, while also showing glimpses of moments from the game that fans of the original will surely recognize, the trailer does a pretty good job of setting the tone for the crime thriller. There are also brief glimpses of gameplay footage, from the shooting to riding a motorcycle, so there’s plenty to look at. Take a look below.

Mafia: Definitive Edition launches for PS4, Xbox One, and PC on September 25. You can check out over 17 minutes of recently released gameplay footage through here. We recently also got the chance to dive into a meaty preview build of the game- check out our impressions through here.
