Mafia: The Old Country Features Sicilian Voice Acting

Italian language localization for the user interface and subtitles is also available in the prequel, which launches in 2025.

Hangar 13 announced Mafia: The Old Country at Gamescom Opening Night Live after numerous rumors, and it’s out in 2025. Though gameplay details have yet to be revealed, the official Twitter has confirmed the inclusion of Sicilian voice acting.

“Authenticity is at the heart of the Mafia franchise,” per the series’ official Twitter, “And Mafia: The Old Country will offer voice acting in Sicilian, in line with the game’s setting in 1900s Sicily.” The UI and subtitles will also support Italian language localization, further adding to the immersion.

Mafia: The Old Country will launch for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. Those expecting it early next year will have to wait, as publisher 2K confirmed a fiscal year 2026 release (meaning it won’t launch before April 1st, 2025). The prequel allegedly stars Don Salieri, presumably in his younger days, and will offer a more linear experience when compared to Mafia 3’s open-world approach.

Stay tuned for more details and potential gameplay footage in the coming months. In the meantime, Mafia: Definitive Edition, a remake of the first game, is available now on Game Pass, making this a great time to revisit the series.
