NetEase’s long-awaited hero “shooter” Marvel Rivals is live on Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. On Steam alone, it peaked at 444,286 concurrent players on its launch day per SteamDB. User response is also “Mostly Positive”, with 76 percent of its currently 6,187 reviews giving it the thumbs-up.
Set against an interdimensional conflict between two Doctor Dooms, the free-to-play competitive multiplayer title features 33 playable characters across the Marvel universe. These include heroes like Captain America, Wolverine, Winter Soldier, Iron Fist, Psylocke, and Moon Knight, alongside villains like Magneto, Loki, Venom, Hela, and more. Like Overwatch, characters fall into a role, either taking space as a Vanguard, supporting their team as a Strategist, or piling on the damage as a Duelist.
Marvel Rivals offers eight maps and four modes – Conquest, Domination, Convergence, and Convoy. It’s currently in the middle of Season 0: Dooms’ Rise, which lasts a month and offers a $5 Battle Pass with cosmetics.
