After revealing a rank reset for the second half of Marvel Rivals’ Season 1, NetEase Games is backtracking due to a “wealth of feedback” from players. Gold rank and above players will still receive a costume, while Grandmaster and above are awarded Crests of Honor upon the first half ending.

However, when the season’s second half starts, there won’t be a rank reset, with players retaining their ranks and scores. Those who want the new rewards need to play ten Competitive matches. It’s unknown whether the next season will stick to resetting player ranks to six divisions lower, so stay tuned for updates.

The second half of Season 1 starts on February 21st and is confirmed to add two new playable heroes – Human Torch and The Thing of the Fantastic Four. There will also be significant balance adjustments that will seemingly shake up the meta. As for the future, NetEase seems to be working on a new PvE mode where players must battle a tentacled boss.
