Another day, another Character Guide trailer for Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls, this time focusing on one of the earliest revealed heroes: Star-Lord. Unlike the movies and comics, he’s part of the Amazing Guardians with Spider-Man, Peni Parker and Ms. Marvel, bringing his usual flair and ego. That doesn’t mean Peter Quill can’t hold his own, though.
Aside from Multi-Dash and Free Flight, both properties shared by Iron Man, Star-Lord can unleash elemental ranged attacks. Each has interesting uses, from a fireball that hits multiple times to a short-range ice spray to freeze opponents. Of course, he also has the standard Blaster Shot and Gravity Mines, the latter capable of either suspending or pulling opponents.
And lest you think he’s only good at ranged combat, Ravager Rush allows for quickly closing the distance with a sliding attack. There’s even an aerial version to launch an opponent, slam them into the ground and follow up with multiple blaster shots.
Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls is out on August 6th for PS5 and PC with an open beta running from July 24th to 26th. But you can also look forward to new details at an exclusive panel at San Diego Comic-Con next week. Perhaps we’ll learn more about the Year 1 Characters and Stage Pass, which adds four new characters, so stay tuned.
