DESTRUCTION OF MOTHER BASE
Metal Gear Solid isn’t a series that shies away from putting its characters (and its players) through the emotional grinder, but the culmination of Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes is probably one of the most devastating losses anyone in the series has ever suffered. We can feel the depth of that loss because we, as players, built up and contributed to the growth of MSF’s Mother Base. Not only does it get completely destroyed by Skull Face’s forces, hundreds of Big Boss’ loyal soldiers are also killed, while characters like Chico and Paz die in the same incident.
