Player First Games’ MultiVersus has performed pretty well since going into open beta and more than 144,000 concurrent Steam players on day one. Season 1 was originally set for August 8th, bringing the first proper Battle Pass and several new characters like Rick and Morty. Unfortunately, the season’s start and the addition of Morty are delayed to a later date.

Responding in a series of tweets, the developer said, “We know this might be disappointing for some and want to assure our Community that we are dedicated to delivering new and exciting content that delights players.  We’ll let you know the timing as soon as we can. We appreciate your patience & enthusiasm and look forward to unveiling Season 1 very soon!”

Given that it will appear during Evo Lounge taking place tomorrow and on August 6th, Player First Games may have some other content to reveal. It may also need more time to implement fixes and balance changes, like the upcoming nerf to Bugs Bunny. We’ll have to wait for more details in the meantime.

As for the Season 1 Battle Pass, game director Tony Huynh confirmed on Twitter that it would retail for 950 Gleamium (around $10) and offer 50 tiers for players to grind through. This will include new cosmetics for players to customize various characters.

MultiVersus is currently playable for free on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, and PC.
