As the sequel to Nier Replicant/Gestalt, NieR: Automata takes place in the future where the Earth has been reduced to ruins by aliens with their robot armies. The remains of humanity reside on the Moon and have formed YoRHa, fighting back with android units. Players control 2B, 9S and A2 throughout the campaign, assessing the robots’ wishes while also discovering their own.
NieR: Automata has been a fairly massive success for Square Enix, recently crossing 4.5 million in worldwide shipments and digital sales. Fans will be getting more in the coming days – NieR Replicant ver. 1.22474487139, a “version up” of the original, has been announced for Xbox One, PS4 and PC. There will also be a mobile title, NieR Re[in]carnation, for iOS and Android.
