Overwatch Baptiste

Blizzard Entertainment’s 30th hero for Overwatch, a former Talon soldier turned mercenary medic named Baptiste, is out on March 19th. Originally available on the Public Test Realm server for PC players, the Support hero will go live for all platforms in a few days In the meantime, you can check out a bunch of questions that the development team answered regarding Baptiste’s history.

Though he’s technically a Support hero, Baptiste’s arsenal makes him an interesting DPS/Support hybrid. His main weapon can fire a three-round burst or act as a grenade launcher of sorts, shooting healing projectiles to allies. He can activate a healing field for himself and nearby allies. Also, crouching can increase his jump height – the longer you crouch, the higher he jumps.

Baptiste’s Ultimate, Amplification Matrix, sets up a region that doubles any healing or damage that passes through it. However, its his Invulnerability Shield which is probably the most powerful ability. It’s a device that prevents allies from dying and can nullify Ultimates like D.Va’s Self-Destruct and Junkrat’s RIP-Tire.

A number of buffs and changes have also been tested on the PTR server. Expect those to go live along with Baptiste next week.
