LESS EMPHASIS ON STORY

No one plays Pokemon for the story. No one cares. When Pokemon focuses on the story, it feels weird and out of place, and rarely is it pulled off satisfactorily. Sure, Black and White did it surprisingly well, and Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald were also decent in that regard, but then you look at something like Gen 6 and Gen 7, and you can’t help but feel like maybe this just isn’t something Pokemon even needs. All we want is a framework that allows us to go on a classic Pokemon adventure across a new region. We want ambition, sure, but as far as story as concerned, the more vanilla it is, the better.
