Pokemon GO Will Be Getting PvP Battles “Soon”, At Last

A promise three years in the making, about to be fulfilled at last.

When Pokemon GO was originally announced in 2015, it was announced on three core pillars—catching Pokemon, trading Pokemon, and battling Pokemon. Trading was only added to the game earlier this year, and we also had PvP Pokemon battles teased around then.

Now, Niantic has finally confirmed they will be coming to the game “soon”, fulfilling the promises made three years ago at long last. In a tweet made by the official Pokemon GO account today, PvP battles were confirmed to be coming “soon” to Pokemon GO. That said, we don’t get any actual time frame for when that might happen, though we can reasonably hope it will be before the end of the year.

Continued meaningful support and updates for Pokemon GO have led to a resurgence for the game, and it now is one of the top played games worldwide again on a monthly basis. Hopefully, Niantic can continue adding more functionality to the game in the coming months.

Pokemon GO is available on iOS and Android devices.
