Pokemon GO’s Active User Count Has Gone Up 35% Since May

Niantic is reporting major boosts in the game's popularity recently.

Niantic have been knocking it out of the park recently with their constant support of Pokemon GO. Earlier this year, they added Pokemon trading to the game, while PvP is also in the pipeline, not to mention all the events that are being held on a regular basis.

And it’s showing, too. Niantic recently put up an update on their website, stating that Pokemon GO’s player count of active users has gone up 35 per cent since May of this year. Ever since social features such as trading and making friends were added to the game in June, Pokemon GO players have made more than 113 million friend connections and sent 2.2 billion gifts to each other.

Niantic also revealed that across the three global events they held in Japan, USA, and Germany, in the cities of Yokosuka, Chicago, and Dortmund respectively, over 400,000 players participated- which is a very impressive number by any metric.

There’s been a lot of other recent evidence to suggest Pokemon GO’s surge in popularity too. For instance, it was the highest grossing mobile game in the USA for the month of July, while it also jumped back up in the App Store’s ranking. Not to mention the fact that the game’s revenue has also risen to $2.5 million a day now.
