RAGE 2

Bethesda is in full marketing mode for RAGE 2, with the game coming out next week. We’ve seen a lot from the game, particularly its oddball sense of humor and its variety of weapons. One of those weapons is going to be familiar to longtime id Software fans- the BFG-9000 from DOOM. The powerful weapon was said to be available with the Deluxe Edition of the game since the beginning, but it was never clear if it was exclusive to that or an early unlock, like the Wizard Cheat Codes that also come with the Deluxe Edition but can be unlocked through natural gameplay with the standard copy. Now, it seems, it’s pretty clear the gun will only be available to those who opted for the Deluxe Edition of the title.

On the game’s official Reddit, Bethesda’s community manager offered some clarification after several people asked about the BFG, saying that at launch the gun would only be a premium item for those who purchase the Deluxe and Collector’s Edition (the latter comes with the Deluxe version of the game). He didn’t clarify whether the gun will be available in the standard release after launch, perhaps as a standalone purchasable item for those who do not want the other Deluxe content. Either way, for those getting the game at launch, that’s the only way to get the classic weapon.

RAGE 2 releases May 14th on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The review embargo will lift the day before, and you can check out the game’s launch trailer here.
