#2. RESIDENT EVIL 2
Back in 1998, Resident Evil 2 drew universal plaudits for no shortage of reasons, and chief among them was the excellent level design the game showcased from beginning to end. The RPD building in particular has become iconic among fans of the series, not only because of how excellently it’s been crafted, but also because of how well it’s contextualized- a former museum turned police station turned ramshackle building full of bioweapons and zombies, and it’s exactly as cool as it sounds. The remake, meanwhile, improves upon these locations in all the ways it should, making them more memorable and atmospheric than ever, while retaining the excellent level design that made them stand out so much in the original game.
