It’s no hyperbole to say that the Resident Evil franchise is the biggest horror franchise in gaming history, and the numbers are there to back it up. The series has been nearly an annual one since the first game’s release way back in 1996, and it seems we could be gearing for another announcement soon.

Many people are part of the Resident Evil Ambassador program, a club of sorts that you can sign up for that includes stat tracking in the various Resident Evil titles, news, special items and invites to events. As you can see from MattRPD below, some of the ambassadors have gotten a notification that seems to point at some type of announcement on June 10th. It says “around” here, which could mean that date is flexible.

It’s worth noting that it’s unclear if this announcement is about an actual title, or something else, such as new information about the ambassador program it. We have rumors about both the upcoming Resident Evil 8, as well as the remake of Resident Evil 4, both of which are allegedly in development to come in the next few years. So, it is of course possible this could be related to either of those. There’s also rumors that Sony is planning to have an event or series of events starting June 3rd. That could be a coincidence, but the last three Resident Evil titles were revealed at Sony functions. Either way, stay tuned for more information as it comes.
