Resident Evil Requiem Demo Isn’t Currently Planned: “We Just Want to Finish The Game”

"Our development team is just doing its best to make sure that it’s creating the best quality game," says producer Masato Kumazawa.

Resident Evil Requiem

We’re a little over three months away from the launch of Capcom’s Resident Evil Requiem, arguably the most anticipated entry in the series yet. Part of that is due to it allegedly being the last numbered entry in the series, as it returns to Raccoon City for one final “requiem.” With how information has been drip-fed since its announcement, the wait has been torturous, to say the least.

Unfortunately, those expecting a free demo similar to Resident Evil 7: biohazard, Resident Evil Village and Resident Evil 4 remake, prepare to be disappointed. In a recent interview with Stevivor, producer Masato Kumazawa revealed that there are currently “no plans” for one.

“So, in terms of a demo play, we actually have no plan for one at this stage. None at all. We just want to focus on finishing off the game. Our development team is just doing its best to make sure that it’s creating the best quality game; to make sure that it’s a fine product.”

In terms of reasons, it’s not entirely impractical. With all the hype riding on Resident Evil Requiem, which crossed one million wishlists weeks after its announcement, why wouldn’t you devote all those resources to the game? Then again, Capcom has bamboozled us before – look no further than Summer Game Fest.

Resident Evil Requiem launches on February 27th, 2026, for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Nintendo Switch. Check out the story of the franchise thus far here and stay tuned for a deeper dive into the game in early 2026.
