Resident Evil Requiem - Path Tracing

Nvidia didn’t have much to announce in terms of new gaming hardware, but take heed, RTX 40/50 users – Multi Frame Generation and Path Tracing will be available at launch for Resident Evil Requiem. To highlight the incredible ray traced shadows, ambient occlusion and reflections, a new comparison trailer is available.

While it offers some familiar scenes, there are a few intriguing standouts like the street under the subway bridge or the pharmacy. Alongside the sheer difference in lighting and reflection quality, they also could hint at some of the locations players will explore. After all, the recently revealed Leon is rumored to traverse larger environments than his counterpart (who’s also walking down the same street past several NPCs).

As for performance, Multi Frame Generation with DLSS 4 is capable of delivering 200 to 300+ frames with Path Tracing enabled. Which is great, except we lack context on other graphical quality settings.

Resident Evil Requiem launches on February 27th for PC, Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and Nintendo Switch 2, so it won’t be long before we find out for ourselves. In the meantime, Capcom has promised a “deeper dive” into the title early this year, but a demo is sadly not planned. The team is currently focused on finishing the game first.
