Following its latest major delay, Ubisoft Singapore’s Skull and Bones will receive some new gameplay footage on January 13th, 9 PM PT. The development team tweeted about the delay, noting that the extra time would “help us in providing further polish and balancing to our game experiences” based on feedback from previous tests.
The new gameplay will debut as part of the latest episode of The Deck and focus on the game’s lore (though director Ryan Bernard said the story isn’t the “main focus”). A small teaser can be seen below. Details on the new release date and upcoming test phases will also be shared “very soon.”
Skull and Bones is in development for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC, with a release window of 2023-24 (presumably corresponding to the 2023 fiscal year). The delay was announced in addition to Ubisoft canceling three unannounced titles and reducing costs by $200 million. However, it’s only the latest in a string of delays with reports claiming the project to have been mismanaged and rebooted several times. Stay tuned for more details when the new gameplay footage premieres.
