The Fallout franchise has been the center of attention despite the Next-Gen Update’s issues, but Bethesda continues supporting Starfield. The space-faring RPG will receive its first paid expansion this Fall with Shattered Space, and an update is coming up to add maps for cities and “some great stuff” for shipbuilding.

However, that’s not all. When speaking to Kinda Funny Games, director Todd Howard casually revealed that the team would add “other display modes” for Xbox Series X/S players. “Look, there are areas that, you know, the maps or some other things…gameplay options that we’re adding… Other display modes on console people have asked for…We want to do all that stuff…Take some time, but we’re excited to get stuff out there.”

Starfield currently runs at a locked 30 frames per second on Xbox Series X/S, a source of controversy when it was first announced. At the time, Howard noted that it could run “way above” the same, sometimes even reaching 60 frames per second, but it’s locked due to the developer preferring “the consistency.” Perhaps it discovered ways to optimize the experience and enable 60 FPS (or even 45 FPS).

Time will tell, so stay tuned. In the meantime, check out our review for Starfield here. It’s also available for PC along with Xbox Series X/S.
