The Game Awards are approaching soon, and as anticipation surrounding the show continues to mount, new details on it are beginning to emerge. One of the biggest elements of The Game Awards every year is, of course, is new updates and announcements for games, and producer and host Geoff Keighley has provided some more information on what to expect from this year’s show on that front.
Previously, Keighley said that over 50 games would be involved in the event in some capacity. In a more recent Reddit AMA, Keighley says that there will be “30-40 games showing new content at the show”, “a fair number” of which will be new game announcements. Keighley also says that though “a couple” of these will be CG trailers, there is “generally a lot of gameplay” in the showings.
In a separate comment, he also said that he hasn’t “felt this good about a show in a while”, owing to a “strong lineup of announcements and content.”
“I’m pretty excited. This year feels good,” Keighley wrote. “We have thousands of fans back with us, a really strong lineup of announcements and content, and a good show overall. So I am very excited. If everything holds and we can keep some surprises, it’s going to be a VERY fun night! Haven’t felt this good about a show in a while.”
So far, it’s been confirmed that Tekken 8 will get a new showing at the event on December 8, and that 505 Games will be revealing a new title. Meanwhile, Final Fantasy 16 Naoki Yoshida will also be bringing “a very special live presentation”.
Several other titles have been rumoured to be part of the show, including Kojima Productions’ next game, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, Diablo 4, and a new Crash Bandicoot game. NeatherRealm Studios’ next game, however, will not be revealed just yet.
