Witcher fans have been waiting for this one for quite some time. After a couple of delays, CD Projekt RED confirmed earlier this year that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt would be getting its PS5 and Xbox Series X/S upgrade in Q4 of this year, and with November almost halfway done, many were getting anxious about whether that was still in the pipeline. The Polish developer recently said that news would be shared soon– and so it has.

CD Projekt RED has announced via Twitter that The Witcher 3 will be launching for the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S on December 14, a month from now. Everyone who already owns the game on PS4 or Xbox One will get the current-gen upgrade for free. As for what the upgrade will actually entail, those details – along with gameplay footage – will be unveiled in a stream next week.

The Witcher 3’s current-gen upgrade was originally being handled by Saber Interactive, the studio that also brought the game to the Nintendo Switch, though in April, it was announced that development had been moved in-house.

Meanwhile, CD Projekt RED has plenty of other irons in the fire for The Witcher as a series as well. A remake of the original The Witcher is being made in partnership with Fool’s Theory, a studio established for former CDPR developers, while a new mainline trilogy of games is also in development. The Molasses Flood is also working on “an innovative take” on the universe with Project Sirius.
