Along with announcing a new Metro title in development and a new Saints Row in the works at Volition, THQ Nordic revealed that one of the TimeSplitters creators Steve Ellis had joined the company. This was to help “plot the future” for the TimeSplitters IP, which the company acquired last year. Coincidentally, former Free Radical Design members are currently working at Dambuster Studios, which has been assigned to development of Dead Island 2.
While this doesn’t necessarily confirm a new sequel, it does indicate that the publisher is planning for something. The last TimeSplitters title to release was TimeSplitters: Future Perfect in 2005 for the GameCube, PS2, and Xbox. It was acclaimed for its story mode and multiplayer customization.
Another major development from THQ Nordic during its Q1 FY2019 report was its acquisition of Gunfire Games. The studio is known for Darksiders 3 and the upcoming Remnant: From the Ashes, a co-op shooter with Souls-like mechanics. The latter is out on August 20th for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
