The Witness
Many of the open world games on this list emphasize travelling around, completing side quests, talking to wacky characters and maybe levelling up. The Witness has none of that – you’re instead deposited into a mysterious environment with lots of puzzles to solve, ranging from perspective-based conundrums to puzzles that loop back to previous puzzles. Its infectious and endearing especially because it all contributes to helping you unlock the true ending – and meaning – of the game. Regardless, The Witness has tons of unique environments to explore and puzzles to solve.
