Horizon: Zero Dawn
For a game that’s essentially Killzone developer Guerrilla Games’ first open world effort, Horizon: Zero Dawn was executed incredibly well. The open world mixes strong side quest design with Cauldrons, wild robots that must be hunted for upgrades, interesting secrets (like the Shield-Weaver armour) and impressive structures to engage in extensive platforming. It also doesn’t hurt that the main story is genuinely interesting and full of mysterious lore to delve into.
