Following Resident Evil 6’s largescale eschewing of survival horror the developer brought Resident Evil back to its roots for the seventh mainline entry resulting in a thorough reincarnation of a series that was on the precipice of obsoletion. Thanks to the luridly hostile Baker family, genuine fear returned to Resident Evil and the series hasn’t looked back since.
