Project CARS
Realism, especially in video games, is an illusion. One isn’t really hitting that curb as max speed, their vehicle in danger of over-turning. You’re not really in danger of locking up tires and spinning out of control. Project CARS looks to change that by the sheer force of its visual fidelity. This is a game that wants you to be in the driver’s seat as much as it wants you to play it.
For the most part, it’s already succeeded despite numerous displays and push-backs. Real-time weather effects and road details look excellent, the sheer chrome shining from cars reflects numerous real-time light sources and it looks like we’ll have all that graphical glory on the PS4 and Xbox One as well as PC. The question is whether Slightly Mad Studios can deliver it, for real, in the coming months.
