Microsoft recently delivered significant updates on a number of major upcoming first party Xbox releases, while also confirming release dates for the likes of Redfall and Minecraft Legends, and unveiling and shadow-dropping Hi-Fi Rush. One major game that was also expected to get a release date was Forza Motorsport, however, there’s still no word on when exactly it will be coming out.
When it was announced last year, the racing sim was given a Spring 2023 launch window, while in its recent showing at Developer_Direct, Microsoft would only say that the game is coming out in 2023. That, understandably enough, has led to plenty of questions, which hasn’t been helped by recent reports that the game may have been delayed into the second half of the year.
Speaking recently to IGN, Xbox boss Phil Spencer commented on Forza Motorsport’s launch, and though he was reluctant to drill in on a release window, he assured that developer Turn 10 Studios is hard at work behind the scenes, and that a release date will be announced closer to the game’s launch.
“I know there were some questions on the date on Forza Motorsport, because we just revealed the year,” Spencer said. “Everybody should know just the quality that Turn 10 puts into Motorsport, if you look historically, is going to be there in this game. That’s the thing that, first and foremost, is most important, and we will come out with a date, no doubt when we’re a little bit closer. But we just wanted to reaffirm to people that this is a 2023 game.”
Forza Motorsport is in development for Xbox Series X/S and PC.
