Last year, Microsoft kicked things off with its Xbox Developer Direct, highlighting 2023 titles like Forza Motorsport, Redfall and Minecraft Legends while shadow-dropping Hi-Fi Rush. It’s rumored to return this year (with another possible shadow drop, no less), but it seems an announcement could arrive sooner than later.

Noted insider Klobrille started teasing “much better things to talk about very soon” in ResetEra’s Xbox topic. When asked about the Direct, they expect it to drop closer to January 14th than the 25th and that it has “the potential to be even better than last year.” While they’re unaware of a shadow drop, the excitement comes from “the games being shown, plus the format itself being refreshing.”

Said games reportedly include “several first-party” titles, but they don’t expect any announcement about Activision Blizzard games coming to Game Pass. Jez Corden from Windows Central also tweeted about “some positive news tomorrow maybe,” so it’s very likely that the Direct gets a date soon.

In addition to showcasing its upcoming first-party titles, Microsoft could announce titles like Sea of Thieves coming to PlayStation and Nintendo Switch, based on recent rumors. As always, stay tuned for updates.
