Hitman 3

So far, IO Interactive have revealed Dubai and Dartmoor, England as two of the new locations that players will be visiting in Hitman 3. A third has now been revealed- Chongqing, China, where players will be travelling its rainy, neon-drenched streets for some more emergent, murdery fun.

In an update on their blog, IO Interactive says that Chongqing is ” full of shops and food stands, all crammed into narrow alleys and passageways – with plenty of secrets hidden off the beaten path.”

With Hitman 3, IO Interactive have also made several improvements to their Glacier Engine, which include improved reflections, lighting, animations, and AI. Chongqing in particular will feature “full water effects with details such as rain drops hitting Agent 47 and his clothes getting wet.”

The updated engine has also allowed IOI to populate their environments with even more NPCs than ever before, with the Dubai level, for instance, having upwards of a whopping 300 NPCs. All of the enhancements that IO Interactive have made to their engine will also apply to all locations from the first two games that will be playable in Hitman 3.

Meanwhile, the developer has also confirmed that on the Xbox Series X and PS5, Hitman 3 will run in 4K at 60 frames per second with support for HDR.

IO Interactive have released a new trailer in which they show off the Chongqing level, as well as the aforementioned enhancements to their engine. Check it out below.

Hitman 3 is out on January 20 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Stadia. A cloud version will also release for the Switch at a later date. Meanwhile, ray-tracing will be added to the game’s PC version in a post-launch update as well.
