Kabuki-cho – Yakuza Series

Anyone who’s played a Yakuza title will realize that Kamurocho is way too detailed to not be inspired by an actual town. But it’s actually based very much on Shinjuku’s Kabuki-cho district in Tokyo, right down to the different signs, stores like Don Quijote and the Golden Gai (known as the Champion District in Yakuza). The district is home to many clubs, hotels, restaurants and whatnot with its multitude of billboards and neon signs coming alive at night. Toho Cinemas and Hotel Gracery with the iconic Godzilla statue are missing but it’s still nearly 1:1 in terms of recreation.
