3. Metro Exodus (2019)
4A Games is one of the more underrated studios out there but it’s output with the Metro series has received overwhelming acclaim. This especially extends to the graphics with the recent Metro Exodus being a standout example. The world is more open compared to previous games but nuanced effects like dirt, snow and dusty light shafts still look incredibly detailed. The lighting system is especially breathtaking thanks to global illumination and coloration that’s all happening in real time. Despite performance issues on consoles at launch, Metro Exodus still stands as a gorgeous effort.
