4. Horizon Zero Dawn (2017)
If games like Horizon Zero Dawn have proven anything, it’s that a visually splendid game is possible at 30 frames per second. Along with high-res textures, ambient occlusion and screen-space reflections, soft body physics ensure that details like foliage and hair react realistically to aspects like the wind. Character models are finely detailed and can go as high as 550,000 polygons for some machines, which is crazy considering the game’s scale. All in all, Horizon Zero Dawn is a gorgeous endeavor while still maintaining solid performance throughout.
