14. Halo 4 (2012)
By 2011, it felt like the Xbox 360 was nearing the end of its life-cycle – effectively maxed out on its capabilities. So it was great to see 343 Industries’ Halo 4 release and pack technology like full global illumination and image-based lighting at a 720p resolution. Animation work was also incredible thanks to extensive motion capture, and though some of the character redesigns were unconventional, Halo 4 stood out as a landmark achievements in graphics at the dawn of a new console generation.
