Shadow Warrior 2
Flying Wild Hog’s off-beat first person shooter features a bounty of weirdly imaginative, ornately decorated firearms. Their visual grandeur is matched by brash warrior Lo Wang’s zingy reload style; sawn-off shotguns’ and Major Fletcher spit out used cartridges as Lo brazenly spins the guns around his index fingers before deftly placing replacements down the barrel, or gauss rifle Judgement of Enra’s super-satisfying 45 degree thrust springs expelled cartridges from its belly before Lo simultaneously hoists the barrel upwards whilst silkily sliding in a replacement. Movements are so over-exaggerated they appear comical; however, the game’s animators have exercised careful control over the animations’ easing in and out, grounding these outlandish reloads with a much-needed sense of believability.
