Solid Snake – Metal Gear Solid 4

At the end of Metal Gear Solid 2, much like Raiden, the future looked bright for Solid Snake as he seemed motivated enough to carve his own path. However, when Metal Gear Solid 4 starts, Snake is broken down, physically and mentally. His body has deteriorated rapidly and he’s pretty much done with life in general, believing everything he’s done to have been for nothing. As the old line goes, “I’m no hero, never was. I’m just an old killer, hired to do some wet work.” Of course, by the end, it takes a surprise appearance from none other than Big Boss himself to convince Snake that he still has plenty to live for.
