Harvest Moon may have been the first premier farming title but Stardew Valley pays tribute succeeding it in a number of ways. The journey of the player as they quit their mundane job to live the “simpler” life, growing crops, meeting citizens of the town and helping to restore it provides a very personal sense of investment. Stardew Valley lets you fish, farm and fight but throws in numerous other systems like building relationships, finding that special someone, raising animals and so much more. There’s always something interesting to come back to, whether it’s obsessing about the farm or exploring some other intriguing mystery.
