Xbox Live
If developers like Bungie and Steam are particular about preventing unsavoury practices in their games, then you can imagine Microsoft’s stance. In 2008, the company started banning thousands of players from Xbox Live, seemingly without due cause. Then it came up that said users were likely trying to play online with pirated versions of Call of Duty: World at War and Gears of War 2. Maybe some people were banned innocently but most times, no one’s innocent.
