Kratos vs. Doppelgangers – God of War

While fighting Ares in the end, Kratos is suddenly transported to an otherworldly arena where doppelgangers assault his wife and child, who are seemingly alive. Kratos must protect them from, well, himself, preventing the same mistake he made all those years ago. Upon defeating them all, it seems that Kratos has earned some manner of victory…until Ares forcefully removes the Blades of Chaos and kills Kratos’ family with them, further rubbing salt in the wound. He does thoroughly trounce Ares afterwards but the nightmares remain.
