Death Stranding
Hideo Kojima’s first game since departing from Konami takes the weirdness of the P.T. demo and elevates it further. The plot seems to centre on Sam, played by Norman Reedus, as he tries to “reunite the shattered world” following an event known as the Death Stranding. This involves traveling to an alternate world upon death, experiencing a rain called Timefall which can rapidly age whatever it comes into contact with and fighting invisible creatures with their own motivations. And really, that’s only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to all the strange happenings apparent. With other talent that includes Mads Mikkelsen, Léa Seydoux, Troy Baker and Guillermo del Toro, Death Stranding’s large open world belies an approach to action that could change the genre.
