No Man’s Sky
At launch, No Man’s Sky felt more like a glorified tech demo. Several big updates later, and it feels like its lived up to its initial promise of a far-reaching space odyssey. Planets are still procedurally generated but feel more distinct and teeming with amazing lifeforms (or they could be hellish pits that drag you into despair). You can purchase freighters, engage in massive space battles or just settle down and build a base in the clouds. You can also finally meet other people randomly and team up on adventures, perhaps even visit their own bases.
