Horizon Zero Dawn
Guerrilla Games’ first shot at an open world title gave us hunts against robot dinosaurs in a post-apocalyptic setting. What more could you want? Aloy’s story formed the core of Horizon: Zero Dawn but the world held it all together, featuring mysterious Cauldrons to brave, enormous robots to hunt, giant Tallnecks that acted as living towers to conquer and much more. Say what you will about some of the writing but the world itself was beautifully realized, both in its detail and presentation.
