A Plague Tale: Innocence
Asobo Studio’s first game is a real looker. Taking place during the Hundred Years War, there’s dirt and grime everywhere. The environments take cues from actual French villages with roots in medieval culture, with streets and layouts accurately modeled. Given the time period, plenty of work has gone into recreating the rats’ behaviour, namely how they’ll scurry onto characters and ultimately react with the light. A Plague Tale: Innocence may look too good to be true but its gorgeous texture work, atmospherics, lighting and shadows make us want to believe.
