Square Enix has finally confirmed the release month for Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, its latest MMORPG that released not too long ago for PC and PlayStation 3. According to Siliconera, it will arrive for the next-gen console in April 2014, and there will be options for transferring progress from your PS3 profile to the PS4 (though you won’t be able to transfer progress back).
The publisher will also invite players for beta trials of the game on February 22nd 2014, which also marks the day of launch for the PS4 in Japan. As of now, there is support for cross-platform play between PC and PS3 users but no news yet on whether the same will be possible for PS3/PS4 and PC/PS4 users.
Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn marks the second coming of the MMORPG after its initial launch faced severe criticism. It features new worlds, an overhauled graphics engine, new classes, gameplay elements and quest, including a crossover quest with Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII to take place soon and in February 2014 when the latter launches in the West.
