Halo 5 Guardians

As the release for Halo 5: Guardians draws ever closer, fans are getting ever more excited to see what the game will bring. Some lucky fans actually got their questions answered in a recent Q&A with 343’s Josh Holmes thanks to Halo Waypoint. In particular, the developer answered how the company is going to be handling people who abuse the REQ system. Players being able to actually buy REQ packs with cash, versus earning them in-game is something that has bothered a good portion of the community at large.

Holmes replied by laying out how the REQ system will work in Guardians. It’s pretty clear that the entire system in the game is set up in order to fight off people who are looking for a short cut. First off, the developer said that everybody is going to start at REQ Level 1 at the beginning of each match and you gain levels based on your actions in the game. “Capturing bases, killing AI, taking out AI Bosses and killing enemy players will help you level up within the match. The higher your REQ Level, the more energy you can store and use to deploy REQs.” He said.

Holmes added that the more powerful the REQ, the more energy it will take to deploy it. Energy gains over time, and players get bonuses when they level up. The developer said that all of these systems are in place in order to keep players who want to “pay to win” from succeeding in doing so.

Halo 5: Guardians is getting launched on the Xbox One on October 27.
