Psychonauts 2 Delayed to 2020

Another delay hits Double Fine's platformer following its acquisition by Microsoft.

Psychonauts 2

Double Fine Productions’ Psychonauts 2 is shaping up very well, as evidenced by the recent E3 2019 trailer and its gorgeous gameplay. However, with the studio being acquired by Microsoft and joining Xbox Game Studios, it’s seemingly taking some more time to polish the 3D platformer. As such, it’s now planned to release in 2020.

A press release was sent out confirming the game’s release for next year. Sure enough, on Steam, the game’s planned release date is listed as 2020. Double Fine Productions didn’t outright state why the game was being delayed. However, if it means the final product is worthwhile (that too without crunch), then what’s the harm? It’s not like this is the first delay the project has seen either.

Psychonauts 2 is in development for Xbox One, PS4, and PC (despite Double Fine being owned by Microsoft). It’s also coming to Xbox Game Pass, which should help make the subscription service even more enticing. Stay tuned for more details on the game in the coming months.
