Guilty Gear Strive

Arc System Works’ Guilty Gear Strive has a publisher for Europe and Asia (excluding Japan and South Korea). It’s Bandai Namco Entertainment, better known for publishing titles like Code Vein and Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot. Guilty Gear series general director Daisuke ishiwatari commented on the agreement in a recent statement.

“We are pleased to announce that Bandai Namco Entertainment will be distributing the latest title in the Guilty Gear series, Guilty Gear: Strive. I am surprised that the chit-chat I have exchanged with Harada-san a few years ago has come to fruition. I wish this partnership will bring new joy to more users in Europe and Asia. We are working hard with Bandai Namco Entertainment to get people in Europe and Asia to play Guilty Gear more than ever before. Please look forward to it!”

Bandai Namco general producer Katsuhiro Harada, who is most recognizable as the producer of the Tekken series, stated that, “I have always been thinking that it would be great to partner with Arc System Works, and I’m happy we were able to push this forward. We wish to further enhance and promote the fighting game community together. The continued collaboration between the two means we can bring more exciting games to every dojo around the world!”

This isn’t the first time the two companies have worked together on a fighting game. Bandai Namco published Dragon Ball FighterZ which was developed by Arc System Works in 2018. Guilty Gear Strive is an entirely different beast, as it looks to streamline many of the previous games’ more complex mechanics. The graphics are incredibly gorgeous though and perhaps the developer’s best yet.

Guilty Gear Strive releases in fall 2020 for PS4. A closed beta test will take place from April 16th to 19th and the developer has confirmed that rollback netcode will be used for online play at launch. Stay tuned for more details on the title in the coming week.
