Xbox Series X

Despite a global pandemic, Microsoft’s progress with its Xbox Series X marketing has been progressing steadily. The pre-order page for the console is currently up and the next showcase, focusing on first-party titles, will be held in July. In the meantime, Xbox boss Phil Spencer offered some assurance about the supply chain while chatting with former Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime on Talking Games.

Spencer said that, “In our supply chain, we feel good about the hardware side. Feels like we’ll be able to get enough units. And you know, we’re pretty committed, as we’ve talked about to a worldwide launch, which regretfully, we didn’t do with Xbox One. You remember watching that from Nintendo campus. It took us months and months to hit some of the incredibly important markets and worldwide launch is important to us.”

A global launch is good news, though how much is “enough units” remains to be seen. Spencer also talked about how software for the console is “making good progress”. The games in general are “making progress.” In the meantime, we’ll just have to wait and see what Microsoft has to showcase in July.

343 Industries’ Halo Infinite will be present with gameplay being showcased for the first time. Rumors peg the likes of Fable 4 and a new Perfect Dark to also be showcased. It also wouldn’t be odd to see the likes of Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 from Ninja Theory or Rare’s Everwild. The Xbox Series X will release in holiday 2020.
