Yesterday, several game listings for the PlayStation 5 emerged on Amazon UK. While these were clearly dummy listings, the presence of publisher names like Konami, 2K Games and so on suggested some kind of legitimacy. A listing for a 2 TB model of the PS5 for £599.99 also appeared which was definitely less than legitimate (especially since the 1 TB model had the same price).
It turns out that the listings were an error. PR representative from Amazon UK spoke to IGN and plainly stated that “This was an error.” But what about the PS5 listing? Unfortunately, it was “priced as a dummy product with a dummy price.” So there’s no indication of the actual price of the console being anywhere close to £599.99.
Thankfully, it won’t be long before we learn more about the PlayStation 5. Later today, Sony will host a reveal event at 1 PM PDT which will showcase upcoming games for the next-gen console. Though we likely won’t learn about the price there, the console’s design might pop up. At least, one can hope.
The PS5 is currently slated to release this holiday season. Among rumored games to appear the showcase event are Horizon: Zero Dawn 2, a Bloodborne remaster and Demon’s Souls remake, Resident Evil 8 and a reboot of Silent Hill.
